Delamere
Forest is where the dairy first began in 1986 before moving up the road
to the edge of Knutsford. Traditionally a 'dairy county', Cheshire now
has a growing number of goat herds, mainly white British Saanans.
Roger & Liz are farmers turned champions of goats milk for the growing
market looking for a change from cows milk. Part of this change is driven
by the 15 million people who have a cows milk intolerance and for sufferers
of asthma and eczema, especially young children.
The success of Delamere Dairy has come from setting a high standard* for
goats milk producers to have the milk processed, packaged and widely distributed
to supermarkets as cartons of milk, tubs of cream and yoghurt, butter
and cheese.
Rather than imported industrial goats 'log', you can now buy the soft
white mould rinded Delamere Dairy Goats milk cheese for cooking or with
salads, or as a hard cheddar recipe cheese, or in spreadable form.
Chef, Paul Heathcote, champion of our region's producers has created several
recipes using Delamere Dairy Goats Cheese, available on cards.
